How do I know? As a recruiter it's my job to get directly to the person who has the power to hire you.

You'll get an MS Word doc with only two fonts, no fancy tables or other geegaws so you can comfortably edit it yourself. It retains your tone but is designed to draw the attention of people who hire.

If you don't know where to begin, would like help succinctly articulating what you do, have questions about time gaps or difficult previous employers this is for you.

You provide your experiences and I'll deliver a compelling resume that tells a cohesive "story " about what you want and what you can do. One that clearly demonstrates not just what you did how it made your employers wealthier.

And believe it, if you were employed more than a couple of months you were making or saving your employers money. My experience as a recruiter tells me this one change alone will put you in front of most of your competitors.

Here's the general plan:

• Fact gathering and brainstorming. We generate an unedited list of everything you can remember. You do this all at once or over the course of a couple of days.
• I then assemble your list into a rough draft which you can then review to ensure general direction is correct and all pertinent facts are included and correct.
• Once you're satisfied with the rough draft I included all your corrections and changes and add formatting and present to you as a second draft.
• In the final draft I'll also help align your resume with social networks such as Facebook or Linkedin so you show one cohesive message.

An interesting extra: During their discovery phase my clients often generate a second resume of non-work related skills, talents and accomplishments. Basically a fun resume.

Then comes a startling revelation - you can also make money at things you do for fun. Maybe you already love your job and have fun along the way but, for many, this is whole new way of looking at work.
